You woke up an hour late, and now your entire morning is off and you’re probably going to be late to work. This is common for most people, tons of people have slept through alarms or hit the snooze button one too many times. This is all because people are REALLY tired, we don’t get enough sleep. Here are some ways to feel more awake in the morning.

1. Wake up and move

Whether this means putting your alarm clock on the other side of the room or getting up and doing a workout. Waking up and then instantly moving is the best way to feel more awake in the early hours of the day. Try making a plan to go on a run or doing a workout class with a friend.

2. Don’t hit the snooze button 

This is one of the main culprits of making people go back to sleep in the morning. You hit the snooze button thinking you can get 10 more minutes and then you’re asleep for a few more hours. Make it a point to not hit the snooze button at all and to wake up immediately.

3. Take a cold shower 

We know that cold showers aren’t everyone’s first choice when it comes to showering. However, having a steaming hot shower can actually make your body feel more sleepy. Try and incorporate a cold shower in your morning once a week and you’ll be able to feel the difference in your body.

4. Create goals for the day

By setting some goals for your day you will be more prone to wake up in the morning to try and achieve them! Set goals the night before and put them right next to your bed so that they are one of the first things you see when you wake up.

5. Keep trying 

Train yourself to be more awake in the morning! Try and set your alarm 10 minutes earlier each week. This will train your body to get up and will help you sleep cycle.
